If you’ve watched The Simpsons then you know of Duff Beer, Homer’s love of the golden stuff, and its mascot Duff Man! The Telegraph recently reported that this product will soon exist in more than just your dreams.
Turns out that there were many unofficial versions being moved about Australia & Chile and now finally 21st Century Fox has agreed to market an official Duff Beer. Before we all take a moment to “woot, woot”, the beer will initially be available only in Chile with plans for distribution in Europe for early 2016, with wider distribution anticipated for a later date.
Jeffrey Godsick, president of the consumer products division at 21st Century Fox, told the Wall Street Journal: “Once you see enough piracy, you are faced with two choices. One is deciding to fight it, and the other is deciding to go out with it.”
Godsick described the new, official Duff as being a premium lager with “a very good balance of flavour and refreshment to it. It’s fairly deep golden in colour. It’s got a hint of fruit to it. It’s got a caramel aromatic to it.”
While we wait for release in the US, take comfort in knowing that Ben & Jerry’s Caramel Brownie Brown Ale will be available this fall.
